Exploring Pittsburgh’s Hidden Alleys: A Cultural Journey

Exploring Pittsburgh’s Hidden alleys in the Strip District can be a great way to discover the history and culture of a city. An explorer can find hidden gems that are off the beaten path as well. Pittsburgh’s alleys are steaming with life! Strays looking for food, workers sitting on the back steps taking a break or emptying the trash, having a smoke. And the smells! All these different sensory experiences can make alley exploring fun!

I have discovered that alleys are a photographer’s dream! Texture, color, interesting light, architectural finds and unusual objects.

Another interesting fact about alleys is that are canvases for street artists! The artwork is expressive and colorful.

Follow me through the back alleys of Pittsburgh in the Strip District for an interesting look into the local culture.

The yellow fire hydrant caught my attention!
Did they use a large straight edge to line everything up?
Purple and yellow drew me to this image.
I liked the mural and the puddle of water.
Beautiful! Very graphic!
Colorful parking.
Don’t really know what the white writing was supposed to be.
I thought the black letters were a black Ace card!
Lighting is interesting in alleys!
Mumbo Jumbo!
Needs more art!
