This is the most unique and interesting image I have ever taken! I saw all these rubber gloves sticking out of a box on a commercial fishing boat. I thought., “what an interesting picture!” The gloves against an old weathered window distressed by the ocean spray, in a box with its peeled, white paint. The different textures, muted colors along with the diffuse light made for a compelling photograph.
My first thought was why are these gloves here, why so many and how are they used?
They are worn for protection! Not only protection from the weather but from hooks, fish teeth and sharp fins!
This image presents itself with another meaning….These gloves are for protection just like our Lord protects us. He is our glove!
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
2 Corinthians 3:5
“Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.”
Jesus said, “ ‘Without Me you can do nothing’ ” (John 15:5). Ellen White comments, “The only defense against evil is the indwelling of Christ in the heart. . . . Unless we become vitally connected with God, we can never resist.”
What is the story you see in this image?
