Las Vegas! Bright lights, colorful people, neon signs, sensory overload, opulence galore and lots of gambling is what greets you when driving down Las Vegas Blvd. We recently spent four days in Las Vegas.
We stayed in a resort overlooking the airport. Planes came in one after the other every five minutes or so. We saw sevens planes in the air back to back one time! People from all over the world flock to the entertainment center of the world.
Its not reality for me and I could not survive in this environment but I am glad we visited. Life on the “Strip” is much different in Old Las Vegas which will be in another blog. Lights, opulence, gaiety, and celebration are replaced with the stark reality of people living on the streets in tents searching out an existence for basic needs.
As we strolled down the strip at sunset the city slowly came to life… the lights came on and the crowds increased. Casinos began to fill up and the shows began their nightly entertainment.
I felt fairly safe strolling down Las Vegas Blvd at night. I walked about 7 miles one evening and found the streets clean of trash. It was amazing to see the number of people on the Blvd.
The architecture is beautiful! Lots of high rise buildings!
Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations. The city’s tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of “Sin City“, and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos. Wikipedia
Most of the adult entertainment is in other sections of Las Vegas except for the advertisements. These flyers were posted inside the newspaper racks!
I agree with the author of Life’s Object Lessons, which states in Chapter 2 that “Cares, riches, pleasures, all are used by Satan in playing the game of life for the human soul. The warning is given, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:15, 16. He who reads the hearts of men as an open book says, “Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life.” Luke 21:34. And the apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit writes, “They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil; which, while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Tim. 6:9, 10.
It’s easy to get caught up in the atmosphere of Las Vegas..dropping your inhibitions and restraints; living the life of this world. For me I prefer to spend my time in nature with My Creator.
